Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD's)

  • There are two main categories of STD’s: Bacterial and Viral. You can get rid of Bacterial STD’s, but you cannot get rid of Viral STD’s.
  • 19 million people catch an STD each year. About 1 out of 4 Americans currently has an STD.
  • Chlamydia (Bacterial) infects about 3 million people each year. It can cause infertility, sterility, and Pelvic Inflammatory Disorder (PID).
  • Syphilis (Bacterial) infects about 70,000 people each year. It can cause Syphilis sores, hair loss, and can lead to brain damage and death if not treated immediately. It can spread through all types of sexual activity including sex, intimate touching, and kissing if Syphilis is in your partner’s mouth.
  • Gonorrhea (Bacterial) infects about 650,000 people each year. It can cause PID, infertility and swollen genitals.
  • Human Pampalona Virus (HPV – Viral) infects about 5.5 million people every year. It can cause cancer or genital warts. It can spread through all types of sexual activity including sex, intimate touching, and kissing if HPV is in your partner’s mouth.
  • Genital Herpes (Viral) infects about 1 million people each year. It can cause Herpes blisters and outbreaks on the genitals. It can spread through all types of sexual activity including sex, intimate touching, and kissing if Herpes is in your partner’s mouth.
  • HIV/AIDS (Viral) infects about 40,000 people each year. It can attack your immune system and lead to death.
